Interior architect David Katon, of renowned Australian design team BKH, revamped the original solid 1970s fisherman’s cottage into a contemporary beach home that is simple, relaxed and modernist. The house has an inside/outside appeal, encapsulated in a generous open-plan lounge/dining area that opens out to the pool deck and beach. Huge 600 x 600 black slate stone floors and a fresh white palette dominates the interior, which features modernist designer pieces (note the iconic Fritz Hansen chairs) giving dramatic contrast to the tropical greenery, sandy beaches and turquoise sea. Louvered glass walls and a central breezeway ensure the house is always fresh.
